Launched in 2023 by the World Bank and the pacific Power Association, the Pacific Women in Power (PWIP) initiatives aims to build a more resilient energy sector across Pacific Island countries, by increasing women’s participation in technical jobs and leadership roles. Endorsed by Pacific Energy Ministries,we partner with utilities and ministries to drive this vital change.

Key data and challenges

Despite recent progress, women remain significantly underrepresented in the Pacific’s energy workforce. This gap is most pronounced in technical fields, which currently account for over 60% of the total workforce across energy utilities.
